Chainlink, Swift, and UBS Advance Tokenized Fund Workflows With New Messaging Integration
Chainlink has introduced a groundbreaking interoperability solution that bridges traditional finance with digital assets. By integrating its Runtime Environment (CRE) with Swift's messaging network, financial institutions can now trigger tokenized fund transactions using existing ISO 20022 standards—eliminating the need for infrastructure overhauls.
The solution builds on prior work in Singapore's Project Guardian, where UBS tested offchain settlement of tokenized funds. Now, CRE acts as an abstraction layer, allowing routine Swift messages to execute onchain actions through Chainlink's Digital Transfer Agent standard.
This plug-and-play approach promises to accelerate adoption across the $100 trillion global fund industry. Benefits include near-instant settlement, automated compliance checks, and reduced operational friction—all while maintaining compatibility with legacy banking systems.
